Dr. John Poon, professional background
He received his Doctor of Optometry Degree (O.D.) from the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada. (see uwaterloo.ca/optometry-vision-science The School of Optometry at U.W. is the only English school in Canada. His internship experiencies included: the Eye Foundation of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA, where he studied under the guidance of Dr. Katzman (glaucoma / cataract ophthamologist) and Dr. M. Teske (retinal specialist). (see www.eyefoundation.com He later interned at the Ocular Health Clinic and Low Vision Clinic at the University of Waterloo. He received training in the management of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, peripheral retinal disorders and pre- and post-operative cataract and refractive eye surgery care.
He has also was involved with the Mitchell Eye Centre in Calgary, Alberta working with LASIK/PRK patients.
Dr. John Poon co-authored a paper in the Journal of Comparative Neurology, March 1998, while working at the Lion's Sight Center at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine.
