Health Care Organizations / Associations in Hawaii

  • Healthcare Association of Hawaii www.hah.org
A great starting point to find health care resources in Honolulu and Hawaii!

See their site explanation on:  Types of Home Care Providers including:  Medicare-Certified Home Health Agencies; Private Duty Home Care Agencies; Hospices; Home Infusion Pharmacies; Home Medical Equipment & Supply Companies and their Directory of Providers www.hahc.org/providers.htm

Note their section on on How to Select and What to Expect From A Home Care Provider

The Healthcare Association of Hawaii (HAH) is a non-profit organization representing the state's acute care hospitals and two thirds of the long term care beds with a total of 41 facilities. Founded in 1939 as the Hospital Association of Hawaii, it merged with the Hawaii Nursing Home Association in 1974. In 1987, the name was changed to the Healthcare Association of Hawaii to better reflect its membership.

HAH is affiliated with the American Hospital Association, the American Health Care Association, the National Association for Home Care, and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. Over the last 60 years, the Association has expanded its membership so that today it represents not only hospitals, long term care facilities, home care and hospices but also community based providers and many supporting organizations which provide services and supplies to the industry.

The primary mission of HAH is to represent and advocate for our members, the state's health care system and the health care of Hawaii's citizens with Congress, the state legislature, government agencies and departments, the news media and the public. For instance, the Association has focused considerable energy towards reducing the number of individuals in Hawaii without health care insurance and educating decision makers on the need for adequate reimbursement to providers to cover the cost of care.
